The Guadiana river system above the house offers fantastic fishing for barbel, carp, shad when in season (April to May), The Guadiana is the biggest river in the south of Portugal and is home for 5 types of barbel including the giant comizo that can grow to over 40lbs! it also produces wild carp that go to 20lbs and fight like tigers along with shad, sturgeon, mullet and small catfish. There is also black bass on the dams.
You can fish near the house or take the boats upriver with the tide and be in great fishing swims above the village of Pomarao. Here you will find a bar/restaurant serving good, reasonably-priced food. Details of routes to take can be found in the house.
