Casa Guadiana is located in an area where there is a wide variety of birds never or rarely seen in the UK – too many to list here. All the aficionados agree that this is a fine location for bird-watching. In the immediate vicinity of the house you are likely to see Hoopoes, Bee Eaters, Golden Orioles and the rare Azure-winged Magpie. On the river, Kingfishers, the Purple Heron and flocks of Egrets are frequent visitors. You have a great view of these birds from river level from one of the boats or canoes. Further afield the ubiquitous and magnificent Stork can be seen with its distinctive nest on top of telephone poles and nestled against church towers.
